A Moment Suspended

by Southwark Stanza

During lockdown in 2020, a group of poets all decided to send each other postcards. Beyond the address, the cards were sent with no written message.

When the cards reached their friendly destinations, the recipients set about writing a poem onto the back – perhaps inspired by the image on the front.

In this way, over one hundred postcards birthed over one hundred poems, bringing the group together from a distance and providing a creative outlet amidst the stifling 2020 experience.

When gatherings were allowed, all the postcards were exhibited at Shy Space, a gallery near Southwark Station.

This film documents the exhibition and is accompanied by a reading of Jenny Hobson’s compilation poem A Moment Suspended, which blends lines from each contributing poet together into one flowing piece.
